I usually host a Facebook party to celebrate the release of a new book. While those are always fun, this time I wanted to try something different for the release of King’s Blood (Kinsman Chronicles, book 2). I’ve participated in several online scavenger hunts and thought it might be neat to do one as a release party.
So, mark your calendars for February 17 – 19, 2017 and join me and seventeen other authors as we follow the characters from King’s Blood over a world of worlds as they seek out a place to call home. You will visit 17 different author websites, discover their amazing storyworlds, learn about the books that take place in those worlds, and pick up a clue at each stop to enter to win the grand prize.
PRIZES:
First Prize: Kindle Fire or ($50 Amazon Gift Card) and signed copies of King’s Folly and King’s Blood (unsigned if international winner).
Second Prize: $25 Amazon Gift Card and signed paperback copies of King’s Folly and King’s Blood (unsigned if international winner).
Third Prize: Signed paperback copies of King’s Folly and King’s Blood (unsigned if international winner).
Bonus Quiz Prize: Kindle Fire or ($50 Amazon Gift Card) and signed copies of King’s Folly and King’s Blood (unsigned if international winner).
Bonus giveaways: Look for more giveaways on various participating author sites (see each site during the hunt for details).
WHEN AND WHERE:
February 17 at 12:00 noon, Pacific time, until February 19 at midnight, Pacific time
We will start right here on my author blog. The scavenger hunt is not a race, so there is no need to rush through. All prizes will be awarded after the end of the hunt. Winners will be notified by email.
HOW TO PLAY:
1. Start here, on my blog, on or after February 17 at 12:00 noon, Pacific time.
2. Follow the link at the end of my post to Stop #2. Each subsequent post will have a link that leads you to the next stop until you arrive back here at the end. You will collect clues along the way, enter any other giveaways you might find, and (if you want to participate) be sure to read each post so you can answer the questions for the Bonus Quiz Prize.
3. At the end of the hunt, you will find a place to enter the clues you will have gathered and have a chance to take the Bonus Quiz, if you want to. All answers must be entered before midnight on February 19, 2017.
4. Winners will be announced by Tuesday, February 21.
Planning to join us? Mark your calendar and leave a comment below to be entered to win a signed copy of King’s Blood. Tell me which place you most look forward to learning more about on the day of the hunt. (Click on the map to enlarge.)

OH MY GOODNESS THIS LOOKS SO FUUUUN! :O A nautical adventure on the high seas of the internet with a treasure map. XD *spies Leira and Ilyon and Hagenheim and The Meredith and other exciting places I recognize* I can’t wait. 😀
Georgina says
Yay! So looking forward to this. 🙂
I would have to say the world on the map that most intrigues me is World City because I’ve never heard of it and I like blimps. ;D
Josiah S says
Can’t wait! I always enjoy these hunts.
Viola says
Schturming!!
Jo says
Adar-iyr!! Can’t wait for the hunt!
Rebekah says
THAT MAP, JILL. o_o Ilyon, Leira, Hagenheim…. I LOVE how Florida leads to space because, yeah, rockets! THIS LOOKS SO FUN! I’ve never done a scavenger hunt before. . . but I totally want to do this one if I can!! Super cool! 🙂
Wow, I guess that means Achan’s ancestors went to a lot of places before they found Er’Rers. XD Heehee.
Random: My sister was holding her cat and saying in baby talk “you’re trouble”, and I said something along the lines of: “She’s Achan?”. <— This sort of thing happens. XD I love Achan/trouble jokes.
Jill Williamson says
LOL! That’s funny, Rebekah. I always noticed that “Achan” sounds like the word “ache,” which one might if one was in trouble… Hope to see you at the scavenger hunt!

asldkkf;lsdhfl This sounds so awesome! And, thank goodness, it’s over a weekend, so I’ll probably be attached to my computer anyway- hopping from one stop to another will make a grand study break! So excited!
Sarah Taleweaver says
Oh, and I’m familiar to some degree with most of the places on the map . . . but not World City. And there’s a blimp/airship/thing. So . . . steampunk? I look forward to finding out. 😀
Sarah Taleweaver says
Also, posted about the scavenger hunt on my favorite forum; does that count? http://heedtheprophecies.proboards.com/thread/20/reading-ideas-discussion?page=22&scrollTo=51912
Jill Williamson says
Thanks, Sarah. Sure, it counts. Thanks for spreading the word. 🙂
Jill Williamson says
Yay! Glad you’ll be there, Sarah! Yes, there are two steampunk stories on this hunt. 🙂
Mary Horton says
Eeeep, this looks like so much fun!!! I can’t wait! That map looks absolutely epic…and I’m particularly excited for Hagenheim. 😀
Jill Williamson says
I love Hagenheim so much. LOL!
Janelle says
Hageneim looks interesting. Very excited for the scavenger hunt!
Jill Williamson says
Janelle, have you never read any of Melanie Dickerson’s historical fairy tale retellings? Kaitlyn and I have read every one!
Steven James says
Is this a race or a quiz? Because I’m probably not going to be able to start until Saturday afternoon (I have school and work).
Jill Williamson says
It is not a race. You have the whole weekend to work your way through it and gather clues. There will be an optional quiz to enter to win the second Kindle. But for the original contest, you will gather a clue word at each stop and enter the sentence at the end. You will have plenty of time to do it.
Steven James says
Okay, thanks. 🙂 I’ll make sure to be in it!
Amy says
Cool! I wasn’t sure if you did these anymore. Yayz. 🙂
Jill Williamson says
This one is a little different than the ones I’ve done before, but I think it will be fun.
James Nichols says
So looking forward to this. Can’t wait. I will have to go with World City as well.
