Hi. I’m Jill Williamson, a chocolate loving, daydreaming, creator of kingdoms. Some people call me The Map Lady because I’m obsessed with drawing maps for my books. I write fantasy and science fiction for readers of all ages, though the young adult fantasy genre is my favorite. I love working with teens and giving writing workshops. I blog for teen writers at GoTeenWriters.com, which has been named one of Writer’s Digest’s “101 Best Websites for Writers.” I also occasionally post writing videos on my YouTube channel and IGTV.
I’m a Whovian, a Photoshop addict, and a recovering fashion design assistant. I’m also a Slytherin. There. I admitted it. *sigh* I’m not evil, I promise. I do love Harry Potter, though. I also love Brandon Sanderson, Jane Austen, and a wide variety of middle grade and young adult novels.
I grew up in Alaska without electricity or running water. That led to a love of reading and an overactive imagination, which eventually led to a love of writing, and in 2010 my first novel, By Darkness Hid, won several awards and was named a Best Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror novel of 2009 by VOYA magazine. I now live in the Pacific Northwest with my husband and two children.
I love to hear from my readers. I’m all over the interweb, so come and find me wherever you exist online. I especially like to hang out on Instagram and Facebook. I really don’t understand Twitter, but I try. There are links to all of my social media on the sidebar. I hope to share more stories with you soon.
