There are ten chapters in The Tiny Cyborg (RoboTales, book 3). Please choose your top three chapters to illustrate, ranking them with your favorite chapter number first in the list, and so on. Email me your list, and I will let you know which chapter I would like you to draw for. The only reason you wouldn’t get your top choice is if several other students also chose that chapter. If you don’t see ten chapters below, some have already been claimed, and I removed them to make it easier for you to choose.
The descriptions for what Luke and I would like illustrated for each chapter are listed below along with a link to a page that describes the scene, gives you an excerpt from the story to read, and gives you more images for inspiration.
Please read the chapter excerpt, as it will help you imagine what is happening in the story before you start drawing. Please draw your illustration on 8 ½ X 11-inch paper, portrait orientation (meaning the paper should be up and down, long and skinny from top to bottom, the same way chapter books are oriented. These should be black-and-white drawings. Use pencil, charcoal, or black ink. Color will not show up. Also, please try to use as much of the paper as possible. Let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you!

Description of the book:
The Tiny Cyborg is a retelling of The Little Mermaid.
Darius, the youngest son of President Cassian, is fascinated with his father’s job. His older brothers all play a part in running the solar system, but everyone says Darius is too little to help. Darius might be small, but he believes that “small people can do big things.”
When his father and brothers go missing on a planet with super strong gravity, Darius is determined to rescue them. He makes a dangerous deal with a scientist to wear a prototype of a new hard suit to protect his body on the planet’s surface. The only problem is, if he doesn’t get back in three days, he’ll become a cyborg! With the help of a robot dog, Darius sets out for the planet’s surface. Will he make it back in time?
Picture Descriptions By Chapter
Chapter Two
Picture description: Draw a picture of Darius in his bedroom, wearing the cyber suit. Have the crate beside him with the lid off so we can see Robo’s head inside. It would be good to draw flea somewhere in the room too. Flea is a little robotic insect that Darius made.

Chapter Seven
Picture description: Draw a picture of of Darius standing outside a door (from the bathroom) with no shirt on. He is still wearing the cyber suit on the rest of him. Have Darius looking down at a rash and some puncture marks on his chest. You can also draw Robo standing or sitting beside him, if you want.
