After a long summer of writing, attending writer’s conferences, going to camps, and then more writing, I have finally finished my first draft of book three! Praise God! What a relief!
But… it’s very long. 168,000 words! That’s as long as book two was.
“Oh, my goodness. Oh, my goodness!” (Movie quote: Tessie from Annie.)
Now I’m going back through and fixing plot holes, cutting anything I can, and waiting to see what my editor thinks of how everything turns out. Then I’ll tweak some things for him, and we’ll print up the ARC copies to send out to review periodicals, and start the overall line edit.
Spoilers, you ask? Well… okay. Since you are so patient. 🙂
I mentioned before that Achan is getting to know Duchess Amal. She is training him how to enter the Veil and how to storm so that he will be able to use his bloodvoice in the battles to come. You will find out more about the bad guys and how they are organized, who killed Achan’s parents and why, and what happens to a person who has been stormed.
There will at least be two major battles.
Some characters who will return from book one: Bran, Harnu, Gren, Sir Rigil, Jax, Noam, Peripasio, Sir Kenton, Prince Oren, and Poril.
I hope that will tide you over for now. I should have the cover image for book three and the back cover blurb ready to share some time before December, and then, soon after, the first chapter!
Whoo! Time flies when you’re writing. Book three will be out before you know it.
Check out this picture of the throne room at Buckingham Palace. It inspired my Armonguard throne room. Nice, huh? Think Achan will like it?
Or maybe Esek will like it better.
Hmm.

I love your books, make the 3rd book as long as you want. And do more than just 3 books, I love these characters!!!

My goodness! From all the times I keep returning to your website to check for updates, this one topped the cake!
I’m thrilled you finished the first draft! And though the editing process is inevitable, I have no qualms against book 3 being just as long (if not longer) than book 2!
And I must agree with Mama Lusco–it’s definitely time to re-read books 1 and 2.
Congratulations, Jill–thank you for being so diligent in writing it! God has blessed you with beautiful talent. 🙂

Thank you, Nadine. I really appreciate your kind words. 🙂

I have to say I am loving these books, and I’m no teen! I’m a little under half way through book two so I’m hoping I don’t have to wait too long for #3.
novelteen says
Thanks, caristarlight! I’m so glad you like the books.
Book three will come out April 1, 2011. I should have the cover soon.
I’ll post it when I do. 🙂
