I wanted to give you a story summary for Onyx Eyes. This is the story I’m going to be writing on my blog each Friday, starting January 3rd. It’s just a rough idea right now, so some things might change. We shall see how this goes. 🙂
About the storyworld . . .Â
Hidden on earth is the land of Belfaylinn, a land filled with three races of fairies. Arials are born with wings and can fly. Grounders are one with nature. And Merrows live underwater. Air, ground, and sea, these three races have been fighting for centuries. But through many negotiations, and arranged marriages, there has been peace in Belfaylinn for the past twenty three years.
When a Grounder princess goes missing the day she is to be betrothed to an Arial prince, peace is threatened. All hope rests on the shoulders of one Grounder warrior, the captain of the princess’s guard, who knew her well. If he cannot find her, no one can. And if she is not found and married to the Arial prince before the coming of the blue moon, it will be war all over again.
About the story concept . . .
The premise for this series was sparked by the wordless books or colored bracelets kids make during VBS to remind them what God does in their lives. The colors: black, red, white, green, and gold tell the story of sin, sacrifice, rebirth, Christian growth, and heaven respectively. The Colors of Belfaylinn is a series of five books in which each book’s theme follows that same pattern. Also, in my storyworld, the fairies use precious stones to power their magic. When a fairy casts a spell, his eye color changes to the color of the gemstone he is using for power, which is why each book title is named for the color of gem that matches the theme.Â
One-sentence story premise . . .Â
Onyx Eyes is the story of a fairy warrior seeking a kidnapped princess. But before he can find her, he becomes enslaved to a human girl, who has a different mission in mind for him.
More about the story . . .
When a fairy princess is kidnapped, a desperate warrior does the unthinkable. He uses onyx to cast a forbidden bonding spell with a dragon so that he can grow wings and go undercover as an Arial. Â His search leads him and his dragon into the human realm. There he becomes a changeling, taking the place of a teen boy.
In the middle of his investigation, the teen boy’s sister discovers that Drake is not her brother and is not human. She blackmails him into taking her to Belfaylinn to find her real brother. Drake doesn’t have time for human games, but the girl controls him now. The sooner he helps her find her brother, the sooner he can get back to his search for the princess. Unless the human girl chooses to control him forever.
About the characters . . .
Drake is my hero, my star, my captain of the guard, fairy warrior. Kaitlyn is the human girl whose brother Drake pretends to be. And Quinn is Kaitlyn’s brother. If I were to cast them for you, here is who I might choose.Â

That sounds really cool. I can’t wait to read it.
Will you be publishing it in paperback when you’re done or is it just going to be on the blog?
Jill Williamson says
Yes, I will be publishing it in paperback, and everyone who helps will get their names listed in the book. 🙂
JennethD says
Sounds fun! How do we help?
Jill Williamson says
There will be a poll at the end of each scene asking for a vote on something that will happen next. I’ll also ask for feedback in the comments to keep track of positive and negative thoughts readers are having.
Ember says
Awesome!
Will this be part of a series or is it a standalone?
Jill Williamson says
It will be a series. If book one goes well, I will likely keep on going with book two on the blog.
