My website broke last week. And it’s still a little broken! (So sad.) My image uploader isn’t working at all. I’m trying to find someone who knows WordPress who will help me get the thing fixed. In the meantime, I’m going to make up for missing last week’s Captives ARC giveaway by posting two freebies this week and giving away two ARC copies!
I know, you’re excited, right? 😆
But first allow me to choose the winner from last week’s entries. And let me just say that I loved hearing about the maps you guys love. It was awesome to Google them all and stare, transfixed, at them for hours instead of writing. Oh. Um … yeah … Anyway …
The winner of an ARC of Captives is:Â Christianson F. *raging applause and whistles*
And now for today’s contest.
My first freebie is my Pinterest inspiration page for Captives. As I researched, I pinned images to the board I created for the book, and that way I could find things quickly if I wanted to remember a detail or just needed a creative boost.
And I can now share it with you.
I’m not sure if you need a Pinterest account to view the board or not. But here is the magical link:Â http://pinterest.com/jillmwilliamson/inspiration-for-captives-the-safe-lands-book-one/
Enjoy.
My second freebie is the prologue and chapter one of Captives, which Zondervan has posted on Scribd!
And now for the giveaway. Enter on the Rafflecopter form below. Good luck!
So excited for Captives, Jill! I know it’s going to be great. 😀
Thank you, Rosie. 😆
Oooh. I looked at your pinterest board and I liked the view of the storm drain under Denver, CO (it looked cool) and also the Shot of Mt. Crested Butte over Peanut Lake because it looks stunning!
Those are fun images, huh? My characters spend a lot of time in storm drains in this series. I think there might even be a storm drain on the cover of book 2!
I can’t wait to see what happens to Mason: who he ends up with. I’m interested to see what might happen if he and Ciddah meet up. Also, the reference in Daniel intrigues me in relation to the story. I’m looking forward to getting to read the whole thing!
Thanks, Cheri! You have good insights. *wink* 🙂
I looked at your Pinterest board, though I don’t have time now to look at the sample chapters. I like all those phone concepts; will they all be represented in the Safelands books? If they are (or even if they aren’t), I totally want one of each. And those cupcakes look yummeh.
Yes, sort of. I tried to come up with a futuristic cell phone technology. Sadly, that is not represented in the ARC, but is represented in the final version. I just wasn’t fast enough in my edit.
I loved your Pinterest board! It gave me a view into what things looked like in Captives. I enjoyed the images of the people the most. Especially Kendall Collin and Levi of Elias. 😉
Pretty people, huh? lol
You have thoroughly tempted me with the prologue and 1st chapter. I can’t wait to read the whole thing! I also love the Pinterest board. The character inspired by pictures are great. I always appreciate when there’s a face to go with a character. 🙂
Thanks, Hannah! 🙂
Yay for free books! I definitely want to win your books!
🙂
I found both the cattail cape and the snake mobile concept phone especially intriguing.
It’s an interesting contrast, huh?
Thanks so much for this giveaway, Jill, how fun!! Loved that you’re sharing behind the scenes info with us as we prepare to get a copy of Captives, VERY cool 🙂
I don’t have a Pinterest account, but I was able to view your page without a problem. I really liked the storm drain photos and the character photos you used with the actors/celebrities. I would love to glimpse the photos as I’m reading Captives, the visuals are so helpful and appreciated. Yay for the prologue and chapter 1 being available, can’t wait to dive into this story!
Thanks again, Jill, blessings!
Ooh, thanks for letting me know that you were able to see the Pinterest page, Kara. That’s good to know.
Yeah, I like to see my people while I write. 🙂
lol, In the middle of all that futuristic stuff…. bread. Bean Bread.
Yeah! Woot for bean bread. 🙂
Hi Jill,
Looking forward to your new book!!
Laura Wilson
I forgot to comment on the pinterest. What I found most interesting was the map. I love looking at the maps to have a better idea of where the people are and where they are going.
Thanks, Laura! If my images were working, I would have pinned the map that isn’t sideways… lol
Good luck figuring out the glitch on your website. Lucky for me, I have a friend who knows all that techno stuff (I’m hopeless!) 🙂 Thanks for giving away a copy of Captives. So excited for this book!
Oops forgot to say something about the pinterest page. Totally loved the see-through phone. And the fashions are pretty interesting. Nice cast of actors, er…I mean characters, too. 🙂
I know! I want one of those phones, Cait. 🙂
Hi Jill!!!! I am super super excited for CAPTIVES!!!!
Thank u for a chance to win;)
I loved the Pinterest board! I’d have to say those futuristic phones looked super awesome…. although I loved Jemma’s bridal stuff too! Haha I’m one of those wedding-obsessed girls times three, because at one point I thought I’d have a future in wedding planning. No more, but still love looking at bridal stuff!
Yeah, me too, Emily. I made enough wedding dresses to know I didn’t want to keep doing it, though. lol
I’m so excited for your new series! The futuristic taxis look really cool and the tattooed, pierced guy looks like someone to avoid. Congrats 🙂
LOL! He is someone to avoid, Angie. 😛
I love the blue dress. I think this is an amazing board-getting all the stuff that’s in your head all in one place where you & the rest of us can reference it.
Thanks, Kathy. Pinterest is a neat site. I love being able to do this.
I think my most memorable image from the pintrest page is the “multi-pierced dude.” Though I didn’t notice the storm drains until I read others’ mention of them – and did you notice the reflections in the one looking straight down the tube at the guy with light behind him looks almost like angel wings?
And thinking of things looking like others, I think the Safe Lands map sideways looks a little like a human heart.
I want to read the book and then look at the pintrest again, to see how the photos line up with my mental images!
Ooh, he kind of does look like an angel! Cool.
OH MY GOODNESS! I loved the first chapter! I really want some more of that! 😛 Cannot wait to get my hands on this book, and an ARC would be wonderful!
Your Pinterest board looks a lot like one of mine!
The taxis and all the futuristic stuff really looks awesome! Though the underground stuff really stuck out to me since some friends and I are writing a novel where some of are characters live underground.
Thanks, Elizabeth! I love those pictures of the underground. I really wanted to go “draining” when I was doing that research, but 1. It’s illegal. And 2. I live five hours from any city big enough to have major storm drains like these. Alas, I had to settle on some YouTube videos of people exploring. lol
Awww, this is gonna be such a cool story!! Can’t wait to read the rest of it! I love your Pinterest idea so we can kinda visualize the people and the world. Is Mason going to be the main character or will it be Levi? Or both? 😀
The three brothers are main characters. But Mason is the “Daniel” of the book, if I had to pick one.
The first chapter is so intriguing! So far, I love the characters and the dystopian elements. Can’t wait to read more 🙂 Thanks so much for the giveaway!
Thanks, Jill!
The phone looks oddly cool! FlexScreen- Nokia 888 Concept Phone
Fun stuff. Can you imagine having the job of inventing cool new things? Seems like it would be really fun.
I would love a copy!
I’m just becoming acquainted with Pintrest as I know it’s suppose to be useful as an author. Your board is awesome and an inspiration for me. Thanks Jill! Wishing you all the best as you release Captives. 🙂
Thanks, Karen! Pinterest is fun. But you can get lost there for hours, so be careful! lol
I love the window phone. It was also really neat reading about the enforcer car in the sample and then seeing the images that inspired it. Too cool!
Counting the days to the release. Thanks so much for these giveaways and sneak peeks, Ms Williamson!
I want that phone, and I want to drive that car thing, too. You’re welcome, C!
I can’t wait to read Captives! I read Replication and I loved it 🙂
Thanks, Brianna!
I really liked the tinfoil rose and the cupcakes from the pinterest page.
I really want to try and make those, Nettie!
I really like the techno pins! Like the window phone. Very cool. 😉 A Biblical dystopian?! Sounds great to me!
