It’s hard to get work done in the summer with my kids home and all the camps and such. But I have to keep working at least a little.
Writing: I’m still waiting to hear back from my agent on two stories we submitted to Zonderkidz. One is apocalyptic and the other is dystpoian. In the meantime, I’ve pulled out The New Recruit, my old spy series–the first book I ever wrote. I’m giving it an overhaul. It just might get published soon. More on that later.
I’m also working on my story for the Spirited Anthology. It’s due at the beginning of July. The story is about Prince John of Cyprus and Jerusalem. His father acquires a massive treasure and allows John to choose an item. John picks out an old Senet game. But when he tries to open it to get at the pieces, a young woman appears. She has been trapped in the game for centuries. And Prince John wants to set her free. But at what cost?
The By Darkness Hid podcast: I’m doing good on this. I just finished recording chapter 13 last night. I’m hoping to do one chapter a night this week while my husband is off at Young Life camp and my kids are in bed. Then I won’t be able to record any more until Brad goes to Junior High Camp at the end of July, but by then I’ll have enough chapters recorded to get me to September when school starts.
Marketing: Now that I know my official release date for Replication: The Jason Experiment, I have been brainstorming what to do to promote the book. For starters, I’m scheduling blog interviews and giveaways for the end of November/early December. That way, whoever wins those giveaways could get the book in time for Christmas.
And check out what my pal Christian Miles designed for me. Just in time for Christmas! What do you think? (Christmas doesn’t happen in the book, by the way. This was just a promotional idea.)
Speaking: I’m gearing up for my workshops at the Nazarene Youth Conference in Louisville, Kentucky next week. I’m hoping to speak to 400 plus high school students who are interested in writing. We’ll see who shows up. 🙂

The book cover is very interesting but might be missleading if someone doesn’t know what the book is about. Then again, it does say the release date at the bottom so maybe not. I can’t wait to read Replication. It sounds so cool. I will have to read some of those interviews so post some links here please. Can’t wait to see what other books you have in store for the future too. Even though I have only read By Darkness Hid so far, I think you are a very good story teller and will read more of your books.
