Jeff Gerke, my editor and the owner of Marcher Lord Press, was at the Christy Awards in St. Louis, Missouri last Saturday night. He tried to call me on his cell so that I could hear the award being announced. He told me the winners are always announced by reading the first sentence of the book. So he said that if I heard my opening, we won. If not, ah, well, it was great to be nominated.
But when it came time to announce the winner, Jeff’s calls to me didn’t connect. So he decided to record the moment instead. So here it is, recorded for all time, for your viewing enjoyment.
And check this out. The Christy Awards offer pretty foil stickers that publishers can put on the winning books. But since Marcher Lord Press uses print on demand technology, and since Jeff controls the final files for all his books, uploading a new cover was no big deal. Check out my new cover! Pretty sweet, huh? I need to get myself one of these.
