It is time! I have saved my money all year, bought a plane ticket, dusted off an old formal gown, packed my bags, and I’m ready to go. Where, you may ask? To the annual American Christian Fiction Writer’s Conference, that’s where. 🙂
This year’s conference is in Indianapolis, Indiana. I’ve never been to this city or state, so I’m excited about that, too. The conference’s keynote speaker is Tim Downs, a man I’ve never heard or read. So I’m very interested to hear Mr. Downs and just might come home with some new books.
Who am I kidding? It’s me. I’ll definately come home with some new books!
James Scott Bell is giving the early bird workshop. He is a wonderful teacher. I’ve had the pleasure of being his student twice, so I know to have my notbook ready to jot down pages of wisdom. I am also giving my workshop on creating a fantasy storyworld. Four Marcher Lord Press books are nominated for Carol Awards, including mine (Whoo). I am nominated for Mentor of the Year (There could have been a miscount). And Jeff Gerke is nominated for Editor of the Year (And will hopefull win). All of this is very exciting, and I’m sure Jeff and I will be cheering like crazy for any mention of Marcher Lord Press.
But the most exciting thing for me is being with my people. Other writers. People who live two lives: a real one and the one in their imaginations. I’m going to meet so many people at this conference that I’ve known online for years. Isn’t that awesome? I’ll take TONS of pictures, since that’s what I do.
Don’t know if I’ll be able to get online at the conference hotel, so if you don’t hear from me…
Write to you next Tuesday!
Have fun! Say hi to the crit gang for me!
We missed you, Lynn. I did finally meet Michelle Sutton, whose from your area, right?
Looking forward to seeing you there Jill. It’s been awhile.
